Twin Scooper Stars!!!

After sharing everything, including a WOMB, these twins share their story of amazing weight loss success as a team...

In their own words, a tale of two siblings...

We shared a womb together so it was only natural we’d also end up sharing our love for binging on fast food, candy bars and soda. My twin brother, Chris, and I supersized ourselves right along with our French fries and before we knew it, we were high school seniors and teetering much too close to the 300 pound mark for comfort. We had been heavier than the majority of our peers for most of our lives, but it’s in high school that we got to our heaviest and most unhealthy point. With awful eating preferences and habits, binge-like behavior, sedentary lifestyles and rigorous academic programs keeping us up late with homework, Chris got to 260 pounds and I to 280.

However, when we hit college Chris and I decided it was a now-or-never, do-or-die type of deal for us.  After numerous failed attempts to lose weight, Chris had reached the height of his frustration.  With an impending trip scheduled with his buddies and the desire to truly enjoy himself, he decided to take action. Trying simple and basic food swaps along with exercise, Chris began on his path toward gaining his health. Disillusioned from past failures, I waited on the sidelines with a bag of Hot Cheetos to see what would happen.

When I started to see the weight coming off of Chris, I immediately jumped on the bandwagon with an exhilarating sense of hope that this could actually be the time we lost the weight.  Literally and metaphorically running alongside each other, we were truly lucky to have one another to commiserate with, to rely on for motivation, to help push one another and to call the out when one of us was falling off the wagon.  Aside from eating healthy foods and exercising, a big part of our success was educating ourselves. We learned how to truly read and interpret food labels to both understand how we got into our predicament and how to get out of it.

Together we planned our meals, counted calories and made healthy food choices and swaps.  Our staple foods included turkey sandwiches on whole wheat bread, lean pieces of chicken, black bean enchiladas with whole-wheat tortillas, low-sodium soups, and baked chips for a snack. Chris ran and did strength training.  In the beginning, I could only walk so that’s what I did, eventually building up my strength and stamina and becoming a runner.  It took Chris a little over a year to lose 100 pounds.  I took over two years and lost 120 pounds, but, while Chris remained in maintenance mode, my weight would continue to fluctuate up and down 30 pounds until very recently when I decided I would finally lose the final pounds and break the habits that were creating an unhealthy cycle of yo-yo dieting.  I am not yet a “healed” eater, but I’m certainly in recovery mode and thriving in my healthy lifestyle.

To date, Chris has lost a total of 100 pounds and has maintained it for the past five years.  He is 6-feet, 165 pounds. I am currently maintaining a total loss of 152 pounds, weighing 128 pounds at 5’5.

Skinny Scoopers LOVE Annabel and Chris. Please wish them the BEST success. For more detail on their progress check out their blog at feedmeimcranky.com.
