Jill lost nearly 40 pounds with hard work and dedication. She's our Scooper Star this week!
Jill in her own words...
I began attending a weekly kickboxing class at a local church on January 7, 2009, after hearing about the class from a relative at a family Christmas party. I was to the point where I was completely disgusted with myself. I had quit smoking after 14 years approximately six months prior to that and had gained quite a bit of weight. I knew it was time for a change. In early February, the kickboxing instructor asked me if I was interested in joining one of her group training sessions. At that point, I thought why not. What could it hurt?
I began working out with Kathy Vallie of Shape Your Life in Wyoming, Michigan, one night a week in addition to still attending her weekly kickboxing class. The group training sessions consist of four women working together under the direction of Kathy alternating between cardio exercise (treadmill, elliptical, etc.) and strength training (work with free weights, weighted balls, bands, push ups, sit ups, etc.). In March, I added a second night of group training sessions, so that I was working out two nights a week and still attending kickboxing. Each week, the scale just did not reflect the efforts I was putting forth. I was frustrated and almost to the point of giving up. I expressed my concerns, disappointment and frustration to Kathy and she began talking to me about what I was eating and the need to keep track of what I was putting into my body.
In early April, I incorporated the Curves meal plan into my routine as well as my weekly workout schedule. When I followed the Curves meal plan for an entire week, tracking everything I ate, I lost 4 pounds and knew I'd found what I was looking for. At my first weigh in, I tipped the scales at 173.8 pounds. In late July/early August of this year, I added two weekly Spinning classes on top of my two workouts each week. Since I have began my journey in January of this year, I have lost a total of 37 pounds. I have come to love Spinning so much that this past weekend I became a certified Spinning Instructor and am now teaching two Spinning classes per week.
Weight loss is not an easy road, but if you set a plan in place, focus on it without distraction, and track your results, it is a very worthwhile and rewarding journey! I feel the best I have ever felt in my life. It all boils down to a simple formula: calories in versus calories out. It's that simple. It's not easy staying focused with all of the distractions life has to offer, but if you remain focused and committed, you will see results!!!
Skinny Scoopers love Jill. She is a great success story we can all learn from. Staying focused and making small changes added up to great results for her. Please comment on Jill's story. Success is CONTAGIOUS!!!
