Mike Scott Lost Over 160 Pounds

Mike in his own words...

My name is Mike Scott and I am a life coach / weight management coach that lives and works on the East Coast of the United Kingdom. The photo on the left is me back in April 2005, when I was at my biggest, when I returned from this holiday in Florida I tipped the scales at twenty seven and a half stone (three hundred and eighty five pounds).

Over the summer of 2005 I went from starving to binging and dropped a couple of stone but in September 2005 I decided to start my last ever diet, I weighed in at twenty four and a half stone (three hundred and fourty three pounds), in the next twenty weeks I ate nothing but sachets of milkshake and soups and reduced my weight by one hundred and sixty one pounds down to a healthy weight. The photo of me on the right is from April 2006 when we returned to Florida one year later!

When I returned from Florida I was featured on the front of the national newspapers, magazines, radio and ended up hitting the sofa of GM:TV in June 2006 in front of nine million people telling them how amazing it was to finally get slim!

But there was a problem! When I was big I didn't like myself, I used to eat to give comfort, stop boredom, to celebrate, commiserate, when I was angry, when I felt guilty, when I was sad...you name the emotion and I used food to either numb it or enhance it. Food was my solution to my problems and not the problem itself. I had stopped smoking, drinking, taking drugs, spending on credit cards and gambling so my only weapon left was food and suddenly I wasn't able to eat anymore without putting weight back on.

Over the next four months I went totally off the rails, I left my wife, got written off work, got put on anti-anxiety, anti-depressants and was referred to a counsellor for support. I then came to realise that actually it isn't WHAT you eat that is the problem, it is WHY you eat that is the real problem and actually if I sorted out my mind then I would be able to stay slim and be happy!

Over the next year I trained in a lot of therapies including NLP, TLT, Hypnotherapy and Reiki and found that the happier I got the less I 'struggled'.
This is me in 2009 back in Florida on the same ride with my son Ethan who is growing up by the minute!

I am still at goal weight, I haven't dieted now for years and don't need to as I no longer struggle with my weight! I have run half marathons, I have climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and I now have a passion to help others as I used to be a professional dieter, I was trapped in the yoyo lifestyle and the obsession that dieting and food can trap you in. But now I don't! If I managed to stop dieting and stay slim then I believe everyone can do it and therefore my goal is to make a real difference and help others break free and do something much more fun than worrying about their weight!
